Just a week  after Tesla’s CEO Elon Musk announced Tesla “suspended vehicle purchases using bitcoin” he has now clarified that the company has not sold any Bitcoin.

Many users on Twitter speculated that Tesla did in fact sell their Bitcoin holdings after Musk sent out a tweet that indicated that Tesla did sell their Bitcoin holdings.

The speculation began when a user on Twitter said “Bitcoiners are going to slap themselves next quarter when they find out Tesla dumped the rest of their Bitcoin holdings”.

Musk responded to the tweet by saying  “indeed” which added more speculation that Tesla dumped their Bitcoins.

The CEO of Tesla then decided to silence the rumors by tweeting “To clarify speculation, Tesla has not sold any Bitcoin”.

CNBC covered Musk’s latest comments and shared these details:

Tesla CEO Elon Musk clarified in a tweet early Monday that the electric vehicle maker “has not sold any Bitcoin.”

“To clarify speculation, Tesla has not sold any Bitcoin,” Musk said in a tweet.

The price of bitcoin saw a partial recovery, trading at $44,680 as of 2:35 a.m. ET Monday, according to data from Coin Metrics.

Earlier, bitcoin’s price had tumbled below $43,000 after Musk implied in a Twitter exchange Sunday afternoon that the electric vehicle maker sold or may sell the rest of its bitcoin holdings.

A Twitter user who goes by @CryptoWhale said, “Bitcoiners are going to slap themselves next quarter when they find out Tesla dumped the rest of their holdings. With the amount of hate @elonmusk is getting, I wouldn’t blame himâ€Ĥ”

Musk replied, “Indeed.”

The exchange came just days after Musk said the company planned to hold rather than sell the bitcoin it already has and intended to use it for transactions as soon as mining transitions to more sustainable energy. Tesla did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

Market Watch covered Musk’s latest statements too:

A day after sparking another selloff in the world’s biggest digital asset, Tesla’s chief executive officer Elon Musk took to Twitter to say his electric-car company hasn’t done any divesting.

“To clarify speculation, Tesla has not sold any bitcoin,” Musk tweeted in the early hours of Monday. He was responding to a tweet from another user who accused him of triggering losses in the cryptocurrency.

His latest tweet came after a Twitter exchange on Sunday with user @cryptowhale who said investors would “slap themselves next quarter when they find out Tesla dumped the rest of their #Bitcoin holdings. With the amount of hate @elonmusk is getting, I wouldn’t blame himâ€Ĥ”

Musk replied cryptically: “Indeed.”

Bitcoin BTCUSD, -3.33% moved higher after that tweet, last hovering at $44,792, a roughly 9% drop over 24 hours, but off a low of $42,212 seen over the period.
