New York Giants running back Saquon Barkley recently announced that all of his future endorsements will be paid in Bitcoin.

Barkley made his announcement on “The Best Business Show Podcast” which can be found on YouTube.

The reason behind Saquon Barkley deciding that all of his future endorsements will be paid in cryptocurrency is because he wants to create generational wealth.

Currently Barkley has endorsement deals with Campbell Soup, Nike, Toyota, Pepsi and Panini America.

He isn’t the only one on the gridiron to be paid in cryptocurrency though, rookie quarterback Trevor Lawrence put his  $24.1 million signing bonus into the cryptocurrency app Blockfolio.

Coin Desk covered the story, check out what they had to share:

New York Giants star running back Saquon Barkley said on Wednesday that he will be taking all of his future endorsement money in bitcoin.

Barkley made his announcement on an episode of Joe Pompliano’s new show on YouTube, “The Best Business Show.”

“You see how high [inflation] is and you learn you can’t save yourself through wealth,” Barkley said on the show. “That’s why I am going to be taking my marketing money in bitcoin.”

Barkley said he was influenced by conversations he had with Jack Mallers, the CEO of Strike who was also on the show, in making his decision. Strike uses the Lightning Network payments platform to convert direct deposits made into checking accounts into bitcoin.

Pompliano put Barkley’s annual endorsement earnings in the “eight-plus figures.” Barkley has signed deals in the past with Nike, Pepsi, Visa and Dunkin’ Donuts, among others.

Fox Business covered Barkley’s announcement too:

New York Giants superstar running back Saquon Barkley announced on Wednesday that he plans on having all of his endorsement money converted to Bitcoin, which is equivalent to more than $10 million per year.

Barkley made the revelation in an interview with “The Best Business Show.”

“I’m taking my marketing money in Bitcoin,” Barkley said.

He added: “When you see the KDs, the Lebrons, and [Tom] Bradys of the world, and you want to create generational wealth, you can’t do that with the sport that I play…and coming off of injuries. When you sit out of football for a whole year, you realize that this game could be taken away from you.”

Barkley already had endorsement deals with Nike, Panini America, Campbell Soup Company, Toyota, and Pepsi, among others, according to, NJ.com.
