Walmart Is Looking To Hire A Digital Currency And Cryptocurrency Expert

It appears Walmart is looking to the future and has just listed a job that requires expertise in digital currency and cryptocurrency.

The job’s listing was quoted saying  Walmart is looking for a “digital currency and cryptocurrency product lead”.

It went on to state that the job role would require the potential employee to be knowledgeable regarding cryptocurrency investments and be able to create partnerships with different crypto companies.

The job location is in Bentonville, Arkansas which is Walmart’s headquarters location so it appears the giant retailer is seriously considering to make a move that would be groundbreaking for cryptocurrency.

If Walmart continues to place their eye’s on cryptocurrency, it’s possible you could be paying for your groceries with Bitcoin, Ethereum or even Shiba Inu.

Yahoo News covered the story and shared these details:

Walmart, the largest U.S. retailer by total sales, is looking to hire a digital currency and cryptocurrency product lead.

According to the retailer’s careers page, the new role seeks to provide leadership with ways to identify technology and customer trends. Investments needed to build on those existing trends will also be advised by the Bentonville, Ark.-based crypto product lead.

Part of the role’s remit includes driving the retail giant’s digital currency strategy. Identifying crypto-related partnerships and investments will also be part of the role.

Two years ago, Walmart applied for a patent on a price-stable crypto similar to Facebook’s nascent project, then called Libra.

Coin Telegraph got the scoop too:

North American retail giant Walmart is looking for an experienced crypto expert who can develop and drive an ambitious digital currency strategy and product roadmap.

In the listing for the role, Walmart indicates it is looking for someone who has a track record in leading and scaling businesses, with at least 10 years of experience in product/program management and technology-based product commercialization. The ideal candidate would have expertise in cryptocurrencies and blockchain-related technologies and in-depth knowledge of the crypto ecosystem and its core actors.

Walmart has hinted at the focus of its future digital currency strategy by noting that it already enables a “broad set of payment options for its customers” — although not yet in cryptocurrency.
