El Salvador made major headlines when they officially made Bitcoin legal tender in the month of June and now it appears Paraguay is looking to do the same.
A Bitcoin bill that has been birthed by Paraguayan Congressman Carlitos Rejala and backed by Senator Fernando Silva Facetti is set on making it’s way to Congress on July 14th.
Congressman Rejala didn’t specifically say what details will be included in the BTC Bill but took to Twitter and tweeted out that there’s going to be a major surprise for Paraguay and the world.
As many investors suspected El Salvador’s move by making Bitcoin legal tender has now started a domino effect in nearby countries.

Cointelegraph covered the story and released these details:
Paraguayan Congressman Carlitos Rejala and Senator Fernando Silva Facetti are planning to introduce a Bitcoin (BTC) bill to Congress on Wednesday, July 14, underscoring the lawmakers’ urgency in formulating a coherent digital asset strategy for their country.
“I am here to unite Paraguay,” Rejala tweeted Friday, adding that he and his fellow lawmaker are planning a “mega surprise for Paraguay and the world.”
Although Rejala didn’t specify what the bill would entail, some lawmakers in the country want to follow El Salvador’s lead in making Bitcoin legal tender. On June 6, Rejala informed his more than 50,000 Twitter followers that digital assets would be connected to “an important project to innovate Paraguay in front of the world.”

Yahoo Finance got the scoop too:
A member of the Paraguayan congress has announced they will present a bill regulating crypto in the next few days.
Carlos Antonio Rejala Helman, a member of the Hagamos Party, issued a tweet on June 9, in which he stated:
“I am here to unite Paraguay, that is why we decided with Senator Fernando Silva Facetti to present together the bill bitcoin on Wednesday, July 14! Stay tuned since there will be a mega surprise for Paraguay and the world. Something GIANT is coming.”
Rejala previously asserted that he would introduce cryptocurrency legislation in July in earlier tweets. One such assertion occurred after Grupo Cinco, one of Paraguay’s biggest entertainment companies, announced they would start accepting payments in BTC and other cryptocurrencies from July onwards.
The congressman excited the crypto space back in June when he alluded to a project between Paraguay, bitcoin (BTC) and PayPal.
