Amazon’s Payment Team Is Looking To Hire An Expert In Blockchain And Digital Currency

Amazon’s recent job listing is hinting that the company could be sparking interest in payment methods involving cryptocurrency.

The e-commerce company posted online that they are looking for experts in blockchain and digital currency.

The post continued and went on to read that the company is looking for “experienced product leader to develop Amazon’s Digital Currency and Blockchain strategy and product roadmap”.

A spokesperson for Amazon confirmed that the job post was indeed real and even went on to say that Amazon is looking into how would cryptocurrency benefit their company.

Earlier in the month the chair of the Federal reserve Jerome Powell stated that cryptocurrency has “failed ” as a payment method but if Amazon one of the world’s largest e-commerce stores accept Bitcoin, he would then have to swallow his words.

Amazon is looking to add a digital currency and blockchain expert to its payments team, suggesting the company could be taking a more serious look at cryptocurrencies such as bitcoin.

According to a recent job posting, Amazon’s payments acceptance and experience team is seeking to hire an “experienced product leader to develop Amazon’s Digital Currency and Blockchain strategy and product roadmap.”

“You will leverage your domain expertise in Blockchain, Distributed Ledger, Central Bank Digital Currencies and Cryptocurrency to develop the case for the capabilities which should be developed, drive overall vision and product strategy, and gain leadership buy-in and investment for new capabilities,” according to the job posting, which was previously reported by Insider.

Amazon confirmed the job posting.

An Amazon spokesperson said in a statement: “We’re inspired by the innovation happening in the cryptocurrency space and are exploring what this could look like on Amazon. We believe the future will be built on new technologies that enable modern, fast, and inexpensive payments, and hope to bring that future to Amazon customers as soon as possible.”

Every once in a while a job posting will kick off a flurry of rumors in the crypto space, as industry watchers want to know whether a new mega corporation such as Apple or Facebook is set to adopt cryptocurrency payments.

That happened today with Amazon, which recently listed a job posting for a Digital Currency and Blockchain Product Lead to create a vision and roadmap for new payment products.

A subsequent statement shared with Decrypt and other media outlets by an Amazon spokesperson fanned the flames by suggesting the world’s largest online retailer is actively considering enabling cryptocurrency payments.

“We’re inspired by the innovation happening in the cryptocurrency space and are exploring what this could look like on Amazon,” the statement reads. “We believe the future will be built on new technologies that enable modern, fast, and inexpensive payments, and hope to bring that future to Amazon customers as soon as possible.”

If Amazon does accept cryptocurrency as a payment method then cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin, Ethereum, and even meme coins like Doge could very well go to the “moon”.
